First FTFF tourney.

I was pumped for this event. Have had it in my mind. I'm fishing both days mornings and evenings.. then some stuff came of a day before the tournament. My mother in law was told she needed emergency brain surgery. I volunteered to take her in Saturday morning and thought my chances of doing any fishing for the weekend were done. After spending most of the day in the hospital Saturday I decided to give Sunday morning a shot. Woke up early and went to Mission Bay. Was on the water and withing 20 min I had hooked up. Got him to the boat and realized I didn't have my code on me yet. So I wiggled my hand down my overall waders and both pockets were empty. I had put a sharpie in my pocket but it fell out while I was driving. Lol. Had to make a decision.. drag him back to the launch or let him go. I took my picture and let him go. Went pack to my truck for the sharpie but the next 5 hours their were no more spotties. Did get a calico and a sandy.. I still had fun on the water. Can't wait for the next one. I'll be more prepared.

Good stuff man (other than the family situation) Bummer you didn't get to count your best catch. It was my first time competing as well & I had a lot of fun! Maybe next month you'll get some more line time in & get a few more on the board. Good fishing

The tournaments have a way of adding necessities to your fishing arsenal. It may take a few times before you develop a system that works for you.
