Was planning on hitting the area I've highlighted pink on the image below next time out (launching at Mothers). I was wondering how affected that area gets with strong incoming/outgoing tides? Does a strong incoming tide wrap its way west through through the main bay portion and into the channel and push you into the Marine Stadium area? Does an outgoing tide flow southwest from Marine Stadium and push you further into the highlighted area? Just trying to figure out what to expect.

Thanks.

A big incoming tide will definitely effect marine stadium.  The area you highlighted isn’t too bad.  You’ll feel it but not terrible. I like that area.  Some good spots in there.

This Saturday’s tide is smooth and won’t rip too bad.

It does show that fishing will be hot early .  5am-7am

There is a little sand bar by this arrow behind a boat call the Revelry.  It has always produced. There’s a good halibut spot by the Appian Way Bridge.

A quick follow up is you have to fish Marine Stadium early. Need to be out of there by 8am. The outgoing tide will pull you towards 2nd street and not in the side channel you highlighted. There is some good fishing in Marine Stadium but tides are for sure an issues. And they do a lot of events on the weekends. We’ve been kicked out of there a couple times. One time we went east into back channels and got stuck. They wouldn’t let us cross the “race course” back to Mothers where we launched.

If I don’t go fly fishing in the surf Saturday morning I was thinking of Huntington. That kind of a tide will allow you to get to the “flats” early and gently push you back to Seabridge.

Thanks for the info BMF! My wife is off Saturday so I can definitely get on the water! Caveat being, there is a bike event called Beach Streets here in LB this Saturday, and our oldest has a birthday party from 11am-1pm. Hoping we do Beach Streets after the birthday party, either way, a 5am-8am session in the highlighted spot is still possible, I miiiiight be able to swing HH, just not sure what the wifey wants to do yet.

A bunch of good information being shared here!
I fished all these locations during all the different tides and I’ve always had really good 🎣 luck there!

I’m wishing you some really good luck on your session!
