Stocking foot waders; slight modification made to mine

I’ve been thinking about this for awhile. I have stocking foot  waders and always wore some crocs type of sandal when walking to and from the parking areas to the sand. Well, I kind of got tired of having one/two more things to have on my tube once I removed them.

With the help of an old wetsuit I cut out two pieces of neoprene to create an external liner of sorts, basically to take the brunt of the walk and hopefully protect the bottoms  of actual sock portion of the waders. I adhered them with E6000 glue (kind of like Shoe-Goo).

We’ll see how it holds up in time. But for now it will give me a little extra piece of mind when walking across sidewalks and parking lots to and from the water.

Nice

I used plastidip  a while back to fix small holes and provide a little bit of protection on the stocking feet.
Still leaked, especially where fin strap rubs near the achilles.
I probably should have put more coats on

Thanks guys. I like that idea of reinforcing the Achilles area where the fin straps rub. I think I’ll do that tomorrow.

I think that's a great idea. let me know how it works and we may be copying you. i do the same thing ,walking to the water in my stocking feet. I'll use my surf booties sometimes but not always. Usually I'm too lazy to put them on

Well, it's 7/23 now. How'd this experiment go?

Thanks for asking! It went well, they are holding up just fine.

I used my tube nearly once a week since doing this modification in December. I take that back, I did take about two months off mid-winter. Alamitos Bay Mother's Beach and 69th Place launches, Huntington Harbor Seabridge Park Launches, Newport Harbor Coast Guard Beach launches.

Just snapped these pictures of them.

Excellent. No overboots to collect rocks/sand and add weight.
