The following are some articles about my first experiences on my Colorado XT. So far, it has been a pretty fun ride. Also, I have included an extensive modification journal. This can not only apply to this model, but many other pontoons on the market. I hope you enjoy it, and get something out of it.

Sincerely,
Buck

Nice setup Catman1979. I read your article and mods, very impressed with the time and effort. At age 66, I'm still tubing. But I will one day move to a pontoon for obvious reasons, my ole butt will be dragging. I too purchased a Classic Accessories, a Cumberland float tube. Great company, very happy..........thanks for the info, tight lines.....GT

Well thanks! I learned a lot from this, and other sites so I wanted to give a little back. Again, everybody is different in their own approach, but I at least wanted to show some attention to detail, as well as make a list for new boaters on what to buy, as well as bypassing learning hurdles.

It's going to be a good year, much better then last year Smile

Thanks for sharing Catman!

Great stories, very entertaining, and useful.
I have a few questions.
Do you think you have given up on the oars all together?
How well do the fins work when fighting a fish?
How did you ever get away from that crocheting gang? I hear they are the worst, real SOA S**t.

No not at all. It would take about fifteen minutes to get the rod holders off and LED harness off, if that. The fins I have yet to use, more or less a backup and not good for extensive use. I am at anchor most of the time, or using the wind sock, and have yet to have an issue with landing a fish. The OE anchor bag is good for loading up with a minimal amount of weight. This way, you can use the pulley to get it up fast. The two anchor system is for still fishing large live baits. Should I invest in a tube, I will probably get some force fins.

Ahh haha, I don't know what became of the crochet/knitting gangs!! Probably still fighting it out in some book store or something.

No worries Jeff! Keep up the great work on the site. I don't comment here often but I do follow many posts, and it is a pretty healthy community here!!

Catman 1979, that was a solid write up and totally informative. My Colorado pontoon just arrived today and I'm excited to get it on the water soon. I currently have a Creek Company XL (8ft) but after some research I decided on the Colorado so my son can fish with me. Once I do a few mods I'll post some pics.

Thanks again,

SCT
