Hi,
I'm thinking about getting an XT.  I have a question about the motor mount placement on it.

I recently borrowed my friends boat (not a Colorado) which had a centered mount.  I found that steering using the oars suspended over the sides was very easy. I just set the speed and using the oars made for perfect tracking and was much easier than steering with the motor handle.

According to Classic Accessories the mounts on Colorado models can be adjusted to either the left or right side but not the center which I think is a little strange.  That leaves me faced with hopefully a minor modification. Would it just be a matter of drilling a couple of holes in the mounting frame?  Or something more difficult!?

Thanks

There is a small piece of flat bar welded over the round tubing on each side for reinforcement. You could easily weld another piece over the center or if it was me I'd weld a long piece of flat bar to the mount itself that stretched to both sides of the existing mounting holes. This should make it an even stronger mount and you wouldn't have to drill additional holes which I would think would just weaken the frame. Be sure jto add a swivel base to your seat, these pontoons shouldn't come without one.

IF it were me, I would not drill or weld on the frame. I would however, get a piece of composite decking long enough to go from outside edge of existing motor mount to the other side. Put four bolts through motor mount and board and attach 2 of these to the back bar and decking material.

I was trying not to drill into my frame. After all was said and done. I am glad I did.

Got some cheap siding from home depot, stainless bolts/washers.  Used existing holes in the frame.  Mounted metal bracket in the middle.
Mounted rod holders to siding as well.

Very nice. I have mine front mounted. I need to try and figure our how to get pictures on here. How's that getting up and down on the vehicle? I don't know if I could handle that. I put mine in the back of the bed of my truck.

Ok wi 2 people, way too hard for this 57 year old, 75# empty, metal frame scratched the excursion.

Sold the Colorado for more than I bought it for after a year and went to 26# frameless and never looked back.
