Hey guys,

If anyone is interested, Penn has some decent stuff on sale/clearance right now:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Penn Pursuit II and Spinfisher V which are at pretty decent prices but the sizes are on the larger size (I think 4000 might be the smallest available that are left) especially for tubing. Anyway, just wanted to pass it along in case anyone is interested. If I didn't already have one of each of those reels, I probably would have picked them up - I use mine for crab snaring (sz 6000/6500 reels). Obviously the Spinfisher V is superior but the Pursuit can get the job done.... we're talking about cranking when it's pretty heavy though.

Penn is great stuff but I'm pretty much exclusive KastKing right now.

Great info and thank for sharing this.

Penn rarely has stuff marked down and some of this is 1/2 off.

They must have a lot of inventory to move because there's still a good amount of stuff available! I succumbed and ended up buying a Spinfisher 3500, 6500 bail-less and Pursuit II 4000 combo. I *may* use the Spinfisher 3500 or Pursuit 4000 in the tube but those are the biggest I'd go - I've been finding 2000-3000 sized reels are perfect. The 6500 is for crab snaring and striper fishing up north if I decide to keep it.

Not sure if any of you guys bought anything but I just got my orders last week. The Pursuit II 4000 combo is a pretty sweet little setup - I think it would work out perfectly for float tubing. I still prefer the 2000-3000 class reels but the 4000 should be fine as the entire setup is pretty lightweight. Anyway, just a heads-up in case anyone was interested. I think the sale might still be going on. If you're looking for a primary or even backup, the Pursuit II 4000 combo is a no-brainer at $30 IMHO. The reel itself normally costs around $35-40 (I bought the size 6000 reel for close to $40 over a year ago) so you're basically getting a free rod (and it's a pretty nice one too).
