26fishfinder recommendations? - Page 2 Empty found a fish finder mount Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:38 pm

fish mastah

FTFF Gathering Officer

Just googled float tube fish finder mount because I'm looking into mounting my Eagle 240 on to my tube. I came across a site called Float Tube Fanatics. Have you guys ever seen this before? I've done the PVC pipe with the transducer thing and I've never had a lot of confidence in that approach. Also, I hate putting the battery in my pockets. And then there's getting everything on and off my boat. I used to have one of the portable Eagle units but those are way too large for a float tube and you can't move them around much except for tilt. Anyways, just wondering if any of you have tried their mount on your tubes or not? Thanks!

I have been looking into fish finders? Do you guys feel they are a necessity? I like the price point of the Garmin Echo 100.

I was in Bass Pro in Las Vegas yesterday and they had the Echo 100 for $79.99 (I own the Echo 200 and love it). Figure on spending another $10 - $30 for a battery depending on what system you would like to power it (8 AA in a Radio Shack box vs a 12V ATV battery). A few more bucks for PVC or ABS tubing to make a mounting system for your tube and you are all set for under $120.00.

They are not a necessity, but a very nice luxury to have. I float tube fished for 10 years before I ever added a fish finder to my rig. I like knowing the depth and bottom contours. Especially when fishing a new place. It also gives you something to look at when the fishing is slow. Very Happy

I just made some mods to my rig to reduce the weight and I'll take some photos today to add to this thread. My system weighs 3 lbs 5.6oz including everything (Garmin Echo 200, ABS mounting system, straps, and battery pack) except the transducer.
