Well as with many of us we just can't seem to have a tube with the "what feels good arsenal". The seat rod holders on the Savage just did not do the trick, limited to two. Secondly,  I cast from the right side. One holder slanted to the right, me ticking it a few times when casting....no good.
Took it on a test run Sunday, so far so good. I need to move it forward, seat to upright. Cost $25.00 and change, pipe and stainless hardware. Had the fittings.......

Nice mod. Looks like a fishing machine.

So I had to modify my rack behind the seat. The bow of the Savage Gear turns upwards like most tubes of its design and the seat adjusted in a slight decline made for a bad fit. The rack was at a 90 degree angle, pushing the back of the seat forward, really uncomfortable. So as you can see in the pic, I added short pieces of PVC and Tee's to adjust the angle of the rod rack. I had to shorten the bottom braces and added rod caps. Much better...........GT

That is one of the benifits of PVC or ABS. Just cut and glue till you get what you want.

Let us know how you like it.

How much weight did your mod PVC rod rack add to your ride?
I can see that you put a lot of thought into it!

Well Jerdon I had the mod finished for my Tuesday session at HH. It seemed to work really well. Maybe 2.5 to 3 pounds. I made it with the intent of it being portable and light weight. 3/4 inch schedule 200, thin stuff and fittings. I have to assemble and disassemble for transport is the only bummer...........GT

Nice rack!!! I'm curious, where do you get the schedule 200? Home depot only has schedule 40. I think... I would like some to build a horizontal rack for the right side of my tube. Similar to the 7 bass design ones. I cast overhead and from the right as well but with my finder on the right I rigged up and the power wheels battery I used to power it I think I need to balance the weight a bit. I don't notice any difference that tube is so stout but my mind would convince me it was side heavy.

I purchased the 200 from Lowes, they also have 40 to. Because the rack is so compact and has numerous fittings, I got away with the 200 3/4 inch pipe. The ABS also adds to the strength to the rack............GT
