New Tuber from OK

Just wanted to throw my hat in the forum ring. Looks like slim pickings for landlocked tubers, especially in this region. I'm rather surprised. But, if there's anyone else in OK, reach out to me and maybe we can swap experiences.

I am sure you will find some people sooner then later, tubing is a great way to fish and people are finding this sport to be just what the Dr. ordered in most cases.

welcome to the forum, i have fished in ok and hell no to getting in that water. i'dd rather deal with sharks and jellyfish and sculpin. your a better man than me, California boy in ok, i had black snakes in the water chasing me, i sat down next to a big ass snapping turtle and he scared the S**t out of me and almost ate me. dumb me shows up in shorts and a tank top and 1st day i meet my mother in law she has to treat me for chiggers and ticks all over me. 1st day meeting her, i had to drop drawers to have her get a tick off my nuts, ok a whole different world. born and raised in ca. earthquakes dont bother me, 1st big tornado in ok, i about lost my mind.

Bwahaha! Sounds like you had a really bad time. In all my life fishing, I've only had to deal with snakes a handful of times. Sounds like to me everything you listed is just life as usual around here. Personally, I wouldn't mind sharks, but jellyfish would be horrible. But I bet we can both agree on at least we don't have Florida or Louisiana alligators!

Actually..... We do. But it's a small area in the SE portion of the state if I remember right. They're pretty uncommon to rare down there, but it's just alligators pushing the boundaries of their natural border in LA.

I always went to Muskogee so no alligators there

I’ve gotten quite a few. Though I’ll have a new project of finding a way to store and tie an anchor to my Cumberland. Being on the Great Plains can get a little windy, and a fair breeze can quickly push you off a spot. In fact, I had found an amazing spot just last weekend Where there was some underwater structure about 15ft deep holding a ton of fish, but a little breeze kicked up and pushed me off the spot since I didn’t have my anchor on me. I tried and tried to find that one tiny spot, and never did. Fishing sort-of close just wasn’t the same as being right on it.

As far as pics go, I’ll probably get some loaded up somewhere to share eventually. I usually fish my little local lake. Rather tiny. No motor boats allowed and only has a combined shoreline of one mile. Deepest part is only 32ft. So, it doesn’t hold many giants but what it lacks in quality, it makes up for in quantity. I’d rather catch 4 small bass in a day than 1 giant bass in a week.
