This is a dual pronged post. First off, My Cumberland is my second float tube ever, my original Caddis Stalker II lasted forevah and was still going strong when I gave it away. When I first started with the Cumberland the big shock was that there's no attachment for the crossbar. It can just fall out if you stand up (say as you land or launch). Does this bother anyone else or just me? I'm so used to the velcro attachments for my old Stalker.

K, next topic. I've decided that a tray is in order, never really been a fan of the stripping apron. Can anyone who has made a custom tray set up post a pic? I recently watched a vid of a fellow who used a plastic storage box lid which he attached to the crossbar, that was pretty nifty. Just looking for ideas. Thanks guys.

I stopped using the apron all together seemed to be in the way more that it helped. I think the tote try idea is such a better design.

As for the second part I know there will some people chiming in soon with there details of there designs. If not do a quick search you will find all kinds of stuff you can learn from here.

First when launching and landing I toss it behind the seat, so no problem there. I now use a table and store it the same way when launching and landing. I bought a boot tray from walmart $4.99, inside dimensions measure about 26"x 14", my next one will be bigger. Its mounted with 2 screws 3 1/2" ( 2" would fit better and bring it right to the edge of the storage pockets) from the front edge and 2 1/4" from the sides of the tray onto a 1" sch. 40 pvc pipe 28 7/8" long with angles cut on it to match the OEM one that came with the apron. Pvc extends about 1 1/4"on each side which gives me about 3 1/2" before the screw, plenty of room to fit into the tube holder. Hope this helps

Oooh, I like that boot tray. And it's cheap. I'm still obsessed with attaching the crossbar to the tube once I've completed the tray. Thank you!

Very nice JohnnyB.

Sometimes simplicity is best, 2 pieces and you get what you want.

Thanks for sharing this.
