Streamer flies

Ok guys I am really hoping to do some saltwater fly fishing so I will be I hope tying some of these what do you think.

I personally use clousers and crazy daddys. Those flies look great.

Cool I will check those out as well.

Ok the Crazy Daddy easy and looks like it would work well.

And the Closer should be an easy tie.

Another interesting one I like the weight on this fly.

Those look great a simple pattern that works.

Oh ya this is killer maybe if I get crazy. If you have not guessed I am saving these videos as well as sharing LOL.

There aren't many saltwater fish you can't catch with an appropriate size and color Clouser Minnow or Lefty's Deceiver!    

Along with those two patterns, I add some flatwing-style streamers, deer hair divers (like the Tabory Snake Fly), poppers, shrimp patterns, and crab patterns.

Thank you so much I will be sure to look these up. I think the one thing I am looking for is a little added weight to get down to the spottes and through the current as well. Thanks very much for your shared knowledge.

Looking good.  You might want to use less deer hair, and try to use the finer hair away from the base of the bucktail.  

Sparse is usually better.

Here's my favorite saltwater streamer, Ray Bonderew's  Ray's Fly.  It's an eastern sand lance (sand eel) pattern, and very sparse as tied by its creator.  It's my first choice for striped bass fishing off Cape Cod, MA.  I like to think a fly should be merely a suggestion, not an imitation.

And, as a bonus, a simple, sparse fly is easier to cast and sinks faster.

The sink faster got me bro I will do that for sure ok the next one's.

You can add some wraps of fine lead wire on the hook shank under the body material or use dumbbell eyes to increase the sink rate.

This makes the fly a little more difficult to cast though.  And in the case of the fly weighted with dumbbell eyes, if you happen to hit a graphite rod with the fly during casting, it can create a weak spot.

I broke a fly rod last spring.  I hit the rod with a Clouser Minnow while casting and it broke while I was fighting the next fish I caught.  (Luckily, it was an Orvis rod and it was replaced for free.)

That is so great info thanks for sharing. I will be adding some weight but maybe I will be sticking to the lead wraps and not the lead eyes.
