My trusty Cumberland is about three years old now and the female coupler on the valves have cracked and the valve does not screw on as tightly before popping out of thread. Its not the air seal Im worried about, its the compression of the nut not being tight enough because the cracks have made the threads wider (does that make sense?)

Ever tighten a plastic water bottle cap too tight and the cap just pops out of thread? Thats kinda like whats happening here.

So what Im wondering is if you can glue the valves in with PVC glue or something similar. Ive never taken them out anyway. Is PVC glue ok or is there something better for the plastic the valves are made of?

I am pretty sure PVC glue will work but let's wait for some more answers. And the valve can be totally replaced with a new one.

I would locate a replacement valve first.

Failing that....

PVC glue might work.
I've always thought that stuff was better suited for softer materials. After all, its not really a glue, but a chemical that softens the plastic and welds the pieces together.
The valve may be too hard material for a good weld to take place.

JB Weld may be a better alternative.

Either way, I would consider the glue a temporary fix and find a replacement valve asap.

Problem is I cant seem to find the female part of the valve that is integrated to the bladders.

Does this come with the bladder female coupler as well?

Its the only one I can find.

It got so bad that the valve was just spinning around in the fitting. I reconsidered PVC glue as I dont think the valves are PVC, and I didnt want the solvent properties of the glue touching the bladder in case I dripped some. I used JB Weld (waterweld) and gooped up the threads nice and thick. Then I carefully screwed the valve back in. Its now sat in there quite well and held air overnight.

Hopefully it wont comically rocket out of the tube when I go to test tomorrow. I hope its sorted, I had to sit my pampered arse in a borrowed Togiak yesterday with leaky-in-the-crotch waders. The seating is rather poor in that thing...

I used the Togiak and while I like the tube design the seat back rest was a big down fall. As for your valve we wish you luck and let us know how it goes. If it works this will be something we can share with others.

Well, its held admirably, but its obviously time for a new tube.

Id only recommend it for the foolish and daring though, seems a bit of a risk to take just to go fishing, especially in these temps.

I think the only proper repair would be new bladders or heat sealing new valves into the bladder.
