Pretty interesting
A little long to watch but the results are worthwhile.
Stock Shimano oil after the cleaning
You will see everything you need to by part 3

I'm going to give some of my reels a good cleaning for a better freespool.
I was wondering where I could get a set of electric sheers from for agitating the bearings in the cleaning solution and my brother suggested using a palm sander. I do have one of those.
I'll report back the results.

I use Reel Scubber to clean my bearings, and such, this stuff works. Just have to blow out all the residual cleaner, and let it dry a bit, then reassemble. it's kinda spendy, I think it was 13.00 for a 16oz can.

I have heard mix results on super tuning a reel to be used in the salt. I know a lot of guys just use the orange seal bearing and call it done

I would be more inclined to polish the spool ends, and leave the stock bearings alone. I have a friend that had the orange seal bearings installed, made a little difference, not worth the $$ imho.

In the video, he just cleans the bearings with lighter fluid and lightly lubes them with the stock Shimano oil.
It definitely made a difference and cost next to nothing

Almost all my reels are done now. This has made a significant difference in performance on the freespool as I can see at this point. I have 5 left to do. Then on to conventionals and level winds?

Since we're on the topic...do ya'll add grease or oil to the worm bar? My cuardos worm bar was loaded with grease...i took it off on one reel and added a light bit of grease. On my e5 i took it off and only added a few drops of oil....

I add Shimano oil. In the past I added a dab of Cal's grease, but it seemed to attract to much junk, so now I just oil it as needed.

Great find buddy thanks for posting it, I would love to give this a shot on my reels I know they need it. Is there a link on how to squeeze out 25 hours out of a 24 hour day. Rambo

Hey guys,
saw the super tuning article but the super cleaning vid was gone when I got there.(something about the poster no longer having an account) I know the pros have their own mechanics, and I betcha this guy is one of them. I once knew a guy who was crazy meticulous like this and had insanely smooth reels. He used to use toothpaste and jewelers rouge to debur and polish the gears and shafts on his reels.
I quit servicing my reels years ago after all the thousands of reels I serviced in the tackle shop. I just pay someone to do it now. Hee Hee,..
