if you fish from a boat take note of the land in the back ground. This area holds fish

Actually there is nothing wrong with it. I have done it a lot, I have my kids do it and long range guys do it all the time

There is no problem when he puts the handle on the rail but at 1:30 he's towards the end of the blank. I'm very surprised he wasn't left with a rod that is 6 inches shorter.

Here is an interesting thread/argument on the subject. I'll keep mine off the rail whenever possible. To each his own.

If you properly place the blank on the rail you IMO and meny others you won't have a problem. From the reel up to foot up and to the butt is fine, foot up from the reel to the tip is not a good idea as you can snap the rod. I didn't notice where he placed the rod in the video. I can say I do know the person in video and he dose know his S**t. Was it a good idea to place the rod tip on the rail, no.
I'll leave it as that. This video was more on location and not what did right or did wrong in video.

Thanks for the info. It's been too many years since I have fished SW and it just goes to show you that you never know what you are going to catch out in the ocean. I was wondering why he didn't use the belt a little earlier for leverage, but like i said it has been a long time since I was out on the ocean.

DP gets crowded! Watch out for kayakers, boaters, wind surfers, jet skis, sail boats etc... And the best place to fish in my opinion is the mouth of the harbor Wink
