Dana Point Harbor

I have fished Dana Point harbor for a while now, but I have been struggling to catch spotties. So far I have only caught one spotty and I caught it fishing of a cattle boat before it left. All that I really catch are sand bass. Does anyone have any suggestions on lures or spots?

3in swimbaits or curly tail grubs with uni butter or hot sauce also look around the forum for which colors to use theirs a bunch of good info all over this forum just have to search a lil bit good luck

if your fishin dph use 5in and bigger your will get big alot more and where u fishin if your fishin the barge then theres not many spots fish the rocks and theres another spot but its secret haha talk to kona about that

DPH sucks for spotties. Id target them but would end up with 5 halibut for every spotty I caught. It got to the point that I ONLY targeted halibut there. DPH kicks out some nice sandies too....but for spotties you'll have to put in some work. Most of mine came from fishing the boat docks. There is a lack of eel grass there so the spotties are "boat dock" orientated.
