Ok well we launched at 1 am and began fishing all the usual spots..( docks, the breakwall, bait reciever for nothing even though we were metering bait and fish in amazingly warm 65 degree water.. that July temps in March ! Well at 2:30am the wind kicked up and it became unbearably cold.. so we docked and went to get breakfast and hot coffee. We went back out at 4am and went straight to the bait reciever and got a scoop of live anchoveys. We bagan drifting the harbor mouth area and had a steady pick on short Halibut untill I got a nice 24 " one. At sunrise I switched over to a mini A Rig with 3 big hammers in Sardine and Bay Shrimp colors and caught a nice 16" Calico. Then another legal halibut and soon after a nice 2 # spottie all near the wind and sea restaraunt area. Well I realized I was a sandbass away from a bay grand slam.. but no matter what I threw I never got that sandy. We continued fishing till 11am catching a few more short halibut.. well by trips end we finished with 16 fish including. Spotties, calico, halibut, 1 sculpin, and 1 lizardfish..so not a bad outing I also know that the boat can handle open water because I took the boat out about a 1/4 mile out of the harbor with no problems... next trip I'm considering King Harbor with a possible run to the kelp at Rocky Point... we have most of this trip on video so we are working on some editing and posting on a new facebook page dedicating to this new little boat ill keep everyone posted.
