Well I woke up at 3am and headed over to my parents house to pick up my little bro. Picked him up and were on the road by 4am headed to Dana Point were I met John at the launch ramp sharply at 5am. Chatted for a bit while we ate our burritos I picked up at Jack in da crack and launched shortly after 5:15am.
Right from the get go John nails a nice yellowfin croaker on the swimbait!

for me the day sucked, I caught a big fat skunk! Got a couple of raked baits and that was it for me. My brother was the one who had the biggest hookup for the day. Something big picked up his live sardine and off to the races he went! This thing took him for a nice little run into open water. He fought him for at least 10 minutes and John and I were ready for assisting him on landing this beast! It was just fun to watch him fight something big on 12lb Pline with a 25lb flouro leader. Whatever it was it was huge! Finally gained some line on the fish and it jumps out of the water! Holy moly! It was a huge freaking bat ray! I mean huge! Then we all were dissapointed and he finally cut the line. At one point the thing was swimming right at me and it scared the crap out of me!

My brother caught a spotties and that was it for the day.
John had a couple of raked baits and landed a smooth hound shark and that was all she wrote.

then like 15 minutes later I catch this...

well at least I went home with more gear than I originally came with.
