Dana Point Harbor 12/12/11

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Well I wasn't planning on fishing But I had to go down to my moms place to help her set up for a xmas party she lives in DP so I killed two birds with one stone and loaded up my float tube and off I went. Instead of launching at baby beach I went to the boat launch but they nomally charge $10 to launch but the old man at the gate let me in at no charge Merry Xmas COOL SWEET . Water temp was 57 I was on the water by 10:15am also high tide was at 8:30am so I'm so used to twisting my hips when setting the hook when I was a shore angler so tring to find a way to be in a position so I stop missing the strikes cause I missed a bunch but for three hours of fishing the area between the harbor patrol and the wind n sea I was dragging my 3in motor oil big hammer between the docks and felt a light tap and then BAMM hanapa'a and got this 13in BUTT and thats all she wrote thanks MASS it was really fun kicking it at DPH

Yea man we need to kick it up there....i fish that harbor a lot but still dont know it as well as some of the other areas i fish. Together im sure we could figure that place out and really put a hurtin on the fishies.

Nice butt.....i know there are bigger ones around. Ive been thinking bout live lining some sardines for the bigger ones...might do it later this week.

Right on kona first striper hunting and now halis your on a role at least in the ocean it shouldn't be two hard to pull of a hat trick with all diff species out there. Go get em bro

Hell ya MASS I'm down just give me a day or so to see if I can swing it I'm going to DPH this saturday for a mini gift exchange at my moms so I'll keep you posted I'll pm you closer to the end of the week YA them butts get big I've landed 5 legal butts in my life time so far all from DPH so there in there got some new warbaits jigs from hogans fish and tackle nice people

HELL ya there's a bunch of area's where you can BBQ I think it would be an excellent spot for a gathering mabey after the holidays or sooner

Yea DP would be a great location.

Also I love Hogan's...one of the best tackle shops I've ever been to...and the fact that its family run gives me an even better reason to go there to support the smaller guys. Id rather spend a few extra dollars and get good info as well instead of going to Bass Pro shops in my opinion.

I even gave them a shout out last weekend on Lets Talk Hook Up sportfishing radio...they were having their holiday sale and i felt obligated to help them out after years of them helping me out.

The holidays are coming soon but afterwards we should do a gathering...plus its a good centeral location because many of our mempera live north and south of here. They have a place for free parking and a small beach for paddleboarders, kayakers, tubers etc. to launch from. Hell, there are a ton of possibilities. We could launch in one spot and leave some vehicles at the other end near the bait barge and tube the whole area going with the tide....then bbq at the other end. Or if its more of a family thing just bbq and cook from the shore....so many different options.

dana point right next to the arco and carls Jr shopping center exit beach cities/ P.C.H. it will be on your right hand side look um up

Hogans is a great shop, i bought a reel from them awhile ago. Very friendly and great service

I been there befor nice place didnt catch anythiing cause of the red tide be i gave it my best

Caught Diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol lmao I found out a few days after the session I don't remember how I got home but I made it safe and sound and sleep for about 6 hours that day .crazy
