Finally got a chance to finish a batch of swim jigs

These are 7/16oz (mold says 1/2oz)

Powder coated and oven cured

The chartreuse heads with the red eyes are glow-in-the-dark

I have a good feeling about the chartreuse/red skirt combo

Any suggestions on head color/skirt color combos?

Those two bottom ones would be great at Canyon Lake and Perris.
Nice looking.

Mustad Ultra Point 3/0
Can also use a 4/0 depending on the application

The mold was designed for a Mustad 91768 and the FW guys seem to think that it is a very good hook to use

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Us west coast SW guys seem to think that it just looks odd so I modified the mold to use a more standard jig hook
A Mustad 32886BLN (warbaits uses this hook)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

or I found that if you bend the shank of a Mustad 32786BLN, it will also fit

The reason I lean towards the Mustad brand is because of the good quality and reasonable prices.
Most of the other designer hook brands are much more expensive and are of similar quality

My buddy who I fish with likes the 91768 hooks, once the fish takes the bait it's all over with those hooks.

Thanks guys!

Gil, Is he a saltwater fisherman using the 91768?
The guys fishing LMB back east seem to really like that hook
I poured a handful of them.
Might have to do a few more!
Also a good selling point Wink
It's a medium wire hook and may not be suitable for heavy line but good enough for up to 20lb. line IMO
This size hook should be good for 3" & 4" swimbaits
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Still looking for suggestions for head color and skirt colors
Planning on making some brown/orange combos (burnt)

Yeah Scott those are the ones and we did fish the wall with them, they worked great. I poured some on Friday with the same mold (my first pours) which came out pretty good.

Nice Gil!
If you need help with building a fluid bed for powder coating, let me know.
I've built a few of them already.
Works almost as good as the commercially made ones and get's the job done at 1/3 the cost Wink
Lot's of tips and info on tackleunderground. Very cool and helpful guys in the wire bait section

Damn Scott those looks sweet! I'd say do one up in a Firetiger pattern or a White & Red pattern but that just the colors I like in the harbor.

I still got the other two because I'm afraid to use them and lose them!

Now there we go, some color ideas
-Fire Tiger
-White & Red: I heard this was the hot color last year for stripers out of the surf.

...Use those jigs, they don't seem to snag very easily.
