Got on the water at 6:30, water temp 62^/63^, and headed East. Water was calm and a beautiful morning. The fishing was slow and I didn't get my first fish until 8:30.

I keep getting short bites and can't get the hook set so I head West on the side opposite the launch ramp towards the Island. No action on that long kick so after an hour kick and checking things out I go back East. There is a guy on a bass boat that hung around and told me the fish were starting to bite but I am not getting any action and decide to break thru some weeds and fish some small shallow coves and beat the bushes.
I see a few beds but they are all empty and finally catch two smaller males and had one spit the hook, all on my baitcaster finally.
Lets just say it was easier getting into the areas then it was getting out, and it wasn't that easy to get in. Kinda hard to turn the tube around when you are surrounded by bushes.
It's getting late so I start the slow drift back to the launch ramp. Normally there is a strong head wind coming from the West but it wasn't bad at all that day. I catch another small male, the smallest of the day on the dead stick. The rod tip was acting funny, like something was playing w/ it so I grab it and just jig it a few times and realize there is a fish on it.
I keep going and the guy on the bass boat comes across the lake to tell me that when I went into the bushes the bite really opened up and he caught 7 of his 10 fish in an hour and he was trying to find me to tell me to join in on the bite. he couldn't see me as I was so deep in the sticks. I have met some of the coolest fishermen out there at Perris on Bass boats. Willing to share what's working and not working and not crowding me in a small area.
I get off the water at 4:30, water temp had moved up to 68^ and the people fishing from the shore said it had been really slow.
The pan fish haven't shown up in numbers yet and the LMB guys can't figure out if the bass have spawned yet or not. I think they are spawning because they are not hitting reaction baits, and are sluggish to bite unless you drop your plastic right on them.
That East end has been hammered by Bass guys and all fish I see caught are immediately released.\
All of my fish were caught on Gary Yamamoto's plastics in one shape or form. Senkos, Grubs, etc.
