Guys I am here to tell ya this new member nearly bought the farm today just testing an earlier model float tube with the truck inner tube floatation. This was a craiglist find at a very handsome price I picked up as a spare or a loaner for a friend. I am 6 ft. 1 in. and 260 lbs. I have used tubes this size out of the belly boat liner for recreational floating with no issue but this was a whole different issue today. It had the tube insert and the inflateable back pad. I tried to google up info as to weight limits before I bought it with no luck. I would say 160 lbs would maybe be max after vwhat happened to me. I inflated the thing quite well, suited up in the waders and fins, stepped into the saddle, pulled her up to waist level and walked into the water. As the water got to near 4 ft or so I wiggled down into the seat and and started to float. The water level was a mere 3 inches below the storage bags but I wa afloat. I then lightly kicked one fin and nearly rolled over. Every twitch of a fin and we were about to do the Posiden adventure.I could just picture going upside down with my flippers hung up in the saddle. I had to use my hands to gingerly move the 4 feet back to shallow water and scoot up onto thee bank. Must admit I was fillin my waders with somthing other than water,

Well glad you were able to post this up to us at the end of the day. I don't mean to knock any float tube product out there but I truly think the U-boat (open ended tubes) are the best for safety. Be safe out there TOJIACK FLOATMAN and everyone else take heed be safe always please.

Hey guys,
I used to have the old inner tube type bag. Back then they were generally rated for 250 for the standard H-L type passenger tire tubes. I did not like how low they sat so I had the Buck's (and later, the Trout Traps) 350 series toobs. I weighted in at 170, so the 350s kept me higher and their added tube diameter were much more stable. Perhaps Tojiack, you should look for a 350 tube for yourself. Glad you stayed dry! (sort of,..)

I will stick to my Togiack which works like a dream for me. I wanted to check the doughnut before I allowed anyone else to try it and am VERY glad I did. If I ever jump in a tube again it better look like something off a heavy construction earth mover LOL !!! Red Smile ..

P.S.

Leakytube,

Loved the Sponge Bob !!! That pretty much was the way I looked when I first thought I was goin over in the tube !!!
