the guy with all the pics and the intel on White Island is LokDog, but haven't seen him here in a bit... I think he uses strips of local mussel for the hot bite here. I'll hit him up on FB.

I'm down with going, but I'm out for tubing until I finish this move. My wife packed some of my float tube gear into boxes.. so I might not be able to go until early or mid August. I reckon we need to pick a day where we can kick out on the outgoing tide, and fish the island for awhile, and kick back to the sand on the incoming tide. And no wind.

But I can't find wind data?? Weather will be warm and sunny. Sadly, I can not make it this weekend. BUT.. I would suggest this date/time:

Here's the launch pic. White Island is the RED arrow from parking to the island. (Orange is the Gangsta Point-Grissom Island we did that one time).



According to tides4fishing.com ...
fishing activity will be HIGH this Saturday, and if you work the tides in your favor, you could launch at high tide around noon-1pm to "ride" the falling tides, and come back after low, around 6pm to catch the rising (incoming tides). Solunar Activity is favorable too, if you believe that. Optimum around 3-5pm.


BUT... I think wind trumps all. If it's windy.. forget it. I'd want low or no wind period. You're kicking SOUTH to the island, (NORTH back), so personally, if there's any wind, I'd prefer it to be North to help me on the way back in (when I'm beat and my legs are thrashed).

Of course, if your Ed5000x, it doesn't matter cuz you have your NO2 turboboost drill trolling motor!

Hey guys.. I'm out.

I still think this Sat 7/21 is a good day, but 12p-6p is probably a bad idea.
It'll probably be crazy sunny & hot out there, and you guys will bake. Too easy to get dehydrated, cramp up, and then stranded out there. Dangerous. Just go early AM.. I think. Be safe fellas!!

edit: accuweather says winds are 3-6mph S-SW at 6am-noon, 6-9mph S-SW at noon-6pm. fyi.

Ok i want to do this but i always think of safety first so if there is anyone who can not kick for hours on end or have a sea doo scooter or drill prop please let just be careful pack light as posible and bring your pfd and any safety equipment you think you might need
I never went out that far but i am will to try i have kicked in the san diego harbor for 9 hours and the last 3 or 4 were in current but let me tell you i also got blown around in newport were i had to beach so i know what it feels like to kick and go no where

No offence but if I go it will be in the am. For wind and parking issues and on the yak. For obvious reasons . Don't worry I won't be butt hurt if you guys shine me on. I'll understand.

hell you might have to go get help so i would fell better if someone was able to get back and forth easier

Guys, heres some tips...you can only fish it in the morning, gotta get to the parking lot at 7am! You can't feed the meter until 8 o'clock! so get you gear ready and then launch before 8, feed the meter about $5! cause you might be out there for a while! Also, you have to launch at low tide! check also if high tide is at noon, around 2 would be good to start kicking back. this place holds a lot of slab perches and grunts! But bass and halibut too, depends on what you wanna target! so someone figure a date to hit it up, gotta work with the tides on this one,..

I dont think the tides are favorable for this Saturday for tubing. May I suggest a short visit to the Grissom and LB marina and Pier J area for the people who have never done so and then take the White Island idea from that point for another day.

Just a suggestion.

Personally I think I will go to NPH this Saturday unless you guys are down for PJ
