Woke up early, picked up my boy Jesus and left the desert by 4:30. Decided to not fight the crowd at Corona and made our way to LP instead to try and land a few end of season bass. Also the DFG website claims to have planted trout last Wednesday (could not confirm, but don't think it happened).

Made it to the gate about 5:30 and waited as it is supposed to open at 6:00. At 6:30 this is still what we saw:

At about 6:45 the ranger finally made his way over and unlocked the gate.

No other tubers all day and I can see why.

Wind: 2-4 mph
Water temp: 62
Water cond.: choppy
Sunny

No bites for the first 3 hours. Tried worms, flutes and even a few spoons. Finally decided to DS a Senko 5 inch green. As soon as the weight hit bottom, I got a strike. I set the hook and pulled in what seemed to be a 14-15 inch LMB. When I lipped her, I lifted and she kicked, landed in my lap, then back I to the drink! No pics!

That was it for the day.

On the plus side, got to try out a new black max I got on the cheap. Spooled it with 8# mono and paired it with a BPS Ultra Light Microcast Trigger Rod. Loved it. Gonna be a nice partner set up for my BPS pro qualifier!!!

Yeah, the rangers get kind of careless about opening that gate on time in the mornings, especially during the colder off season when hardly anyone goes over to that side.

Will do, Fisher. Thanks for the advice. I still got a lot to learn in this game!
