I'm kind of tossing the idea around of getting a Hummingbird Fishin' Buddy 120 depth finder to use with one of my float tubes. I like the more expensive 140c because of it's color screen, but not sure it's worth spending the EXTRA $90 -$100 for just the color. They both have a basic side scan. Anybody have a 140c? How do you like it?

IMO - I would go with a stand alone head unit. They work better.
This is my next head unit I'm goint to get.
All you need a 12v dry cell 5ah battery and you can run for days befor recharging.

Hey Miller!
Yeah I'm about to pull the trigger on the same unit. (merry Xmas to me!) Got a suggestion from a friend that I think about a 7-7.5 AH battery for better battery life. As well if I want to upgrade to the Elite 4 DSI/Plotter model. What do you think?

As far as the Fishin Buddys I have owned a couple of them and I like them except for the whole tube sticking down in the water deal. Jeff recently mounted a Lowrance on his boat with a cool rig from Float Tube Fanatics. Check him out!

Hey Bodfish, yeah if you get one with a GPS etc I would go with min 7.5ah but 10ah would be better. The bigger the head unit is the bigger battery you want.

Color or Black and White? When I was a kid, all we had was a small B/W TV. Finally, sometime in the early 70's, we bought a color TV and never looked back (and would never go back if given a choice). For the same reasoning, I bought a FB 140c. Yes, I could have gotten by with a FB 120, but I had the cash so I figured I would do it right the first time. The color display doesn't necessarily give you more information, but it does display information in ways that make it easy to interpret. I don't have an opinion about a stand alone head unit. Maybe some day when I need to replace my toon with something else, I'll consider a different approach for a FF. Probably try to get something that will work for ice fishing and summer.
