I have a portable fish finder coming in the mail and should be here before this weekend. I was just wondering do you guys use markers, vertical jig right on top of the spot, or take a mental note of the spot and cast over it????? I have not used one before I'm sure there will be a learning curve to reading it also. But I wont bother to ask that one it will come with time.

I just use mine on the tube to find areas that are holding fish and cast over the area.

Really depends on the clarity of the water. In gin-clear water, long casts to the spot are better. Fish are spookier in clear water.

I use my fish finder as a way to find structure, then I fish the structure.

I can usually mentally mark the area...just look at two or three marks on shore and triangulate.
