Finally got back in the tube today. It had been a while.  Felt great to be out on the water.

I ended up doing a solo trip as I just couldn't get somebody to join me.

As I knew it was a solo trip I took my time and didn't get in the water til 0700. I ended up putting in at Balboa Island.

I stayed close to shore, as the cover of my tube has a small tear that I repaired. I'm just afraid of it shredding under pressure.

After a few casts with my new, to me, Daiwa Alphas 103 I was on. The skunkbuster.

I managed two more fish, spotties.  Not big, just fish. Here's one

I fished until about 1000.  The wind started to kick up and I was getting tired and my legs were cramping.

Can't wait til the next outing.

Love those smaller grade bass. Not only are they plentiful, they always put up a scrap of a fight.

How does your Alpha perform for you? It's an older reel from what I've dug up, but it seems to be a quality reel.

No giant fish but, surely feisty.

The Alphas 103, is the original, before all of the tweeks and re-releases.  It is a bulletproof reel.

I have a pair of Sols, which are the U.S. version of the Alphas. I just picked it up cause I think the irradescent color is so cool, brown in the shade and purple in the sun, and I got it for $112 on EBay.

Now carbontex drags and orange seal bearings and it is perfect.
