Decided to go wet the line a bit this morning around 0800. tide was at a 2.3 ft going to around a 4 ft high at 1300 so i took advantage of that lack of tide to fish the deep stuff without getting worked by the current. I was throwing a 1/2 oz reaction bait in the channel hoping to get some grumps and it didn't take long to get bit. The bite was on fire for the first hour i was out there with no wind and very little boat traffic which made for a relaxing session. I stuck with same chartreuse bait the entire day and pulled more than my share of quality spot ties from deep. I gotta tell you guys it was a little more satisfying getting them deep in open water rather then in skinny water off pilings. by 930-10 the bite had slowed but not died and i started my way back scratching a few more on the way. ended the morning with 11 spotties to 15 1/2 inches and a dink of a sandbass. Cheers.
