Lake Perris 10.24

Time 7:00 AM till 1:00 PM
Air temp: 65 to 85
Water temp: 71 to 73
Visibility: About 5 feet
Depth fished: 4 to 28 feet deep.

Rigs used:
Split Shot ....   6" Flattail Watermellon Candy
Drop Shot ....  Margarita Mutilator
Texas .... 3 1/2" Tube bait Pearl Silver Flake
Top Water ... classic Heddon Spook

Friday morning Lake Perris report.

I launched from the boat ramp like EVERYBODY else. There is a mud ring around the lake making it a sticky launch, and all the ramps but one don't reach the water. Kayak and SUP guys that normally launch from Sail Cove were launching with me. We all heard that Bernasconi is now closed, but none of us had gone to take a look. The water is getting cooler each week, but the sun did come out strong today. It was still a little  dark at 7 so I started with a the top water for no reason what-so-ever. I was  dragging the split shot and it caught a nice 14 inch LM about forty yards out. I took her pic and sent her on her way.

I kept dragging the split shot and working the top water through the launch cove for a few misses on the spit shot. So I put the top water away and held on to the split shot and trolled to the island. I monitered a lot of bait fish from 15 to 25 feet deep on the way over. I landed one more LM with the split shot, but nothing worked for the next three hours. I couldn't get bit on the way back to save my life. Nice sunny day on the water tho.

Notes:
The weed-line is breaking up pretty good.
The boat I posted last week or so has been hauled off.
The Kayak guys told me there are two more sunken boats showing on the back side of the island.

Komori, good to hear from you and thanks.
I did hear the crank bite was working, but when I put in I seen a few bass boats chucking them to no avail on the West side of the cove so I stuck with the top water in the shadows.

We still need to hook up and chase some BlueGills. I had a lot a luck dropping small night crawlers and red worms into the weeds this summer.

WTG on the Bass ,  seems like multiple species are biting right now and that might be because of the water drop and the lake turning a little muddy .  Its moving the bait fish and also the other food sources (crawdads , snails , etc)  I Am just glad I am not Sick and I am sorry I had to bail on you this week . I Will Be out Monday for sure !!

WES

Edit : Also Heard they will setting a Buoy line off the damn 500' , to keep people out .

Wes,
No worries bro and I am good for Monday. I sent you a text. I haven't been to the dam in 3 weeks or more. It was so muddy last time I thought I was going to lose my shoe, and I know it is worse now. I hope the buoy line is not true, but we will know soon enough.

Jerdon, We'll have to wait until next spring, I've got just too much on my plate right now. I really wonder how things will be there at LP by then...

Jeff ,

SmallMouth caught at lake perris ? I know my grandfather said before he passed that they where stocked there , along with spots . He was a foreman for Edison at the time the lake was being built and stocked so he saw a lot , as they worked there .

Just got a text yesterday from a source at the lake then saw another post stating the same thing i heard ... would be interesting and rare there

That would be cool to catch a smaller. It seem as lower as the water gets more things seem to be surfacing. More stripers are being cought now as well even though there schoolies.
