First off thanks Gilbert for letting me borrow your extra tube

Did some pre fishing yesterday with my boy out at Lake Perris.
Had my boy drop shooting for trout and bass well I threw swimbaits. Fished several spots with about dozen boats for one dink bass. Mettered a lot of fish but they were all lock jaw. No one was catching so I didn't feel so bad and my boy had a blast.
Now all I have to do win the pontoon boat and I'm set for taking him all the time.
Next Saturday should be fun and I'm sure more fish will be willing to play by then.

Nice Job Man , If we get the rain Wednesday / Thursday . Post Frontal the Bite should flip on like a switch in the deep water Thumbs Up

People are scarred of the deep water in Perris , but man during the winter you can still have 10-15 bass days Twisted Evil

Nice pix and great memories Miller
Im sure it was an awesome day!

I have never fished LP, not to sound like a total rookie but can I get some advice on what type of tackle to bring for bass fishing this late in the season...I usually trout fish right about now.

I'm thinking to just bring gear as if I was heading out to NPH?

Thanks

I dont know what rod & reels you use in the bays but they should be fine for fishing the fresh. 6-20lbs test, M-Heavy rods. It all depends on what you have and wanna fish.
For baits, pretty much everything you use in the bays will work in fresh. The only thing I dont fish in fresh are the 3"-4" swimbaits.

As a Perris regular I typically start with

Spinning Reel with 4# test mono for drop shot
Spinning Reel with 6# test flouro set up wacky for bass or tie on castmaster for trout
Spinning or Casting Reel with 8# test Texas or Carolina rigs
Casting Reel with 10# test for whatever reaction bait I've decided

I do have an ultralight set up with 2 pound if I'm dedicated to BlueGill or Trout for the day
