Well boys and girls, I'm heading out to Bishop, CA this coming Sunday, will fish till Friday. My main goal is to tube Lundy Lake, just a few miles north of Lee Vining. My target fish will be the German Brown. I will also fish Rush Creek, between Grant and Silver Lakes, June Loop. Again my target fish, the German Brown. If the wind cooperates, I may tube Grant. North Lake will also be on my to do list, along with the Owens River............

If anyone is going to be up that way, my base is Bishop at the Best Western..............GT

Well, Monday was a bust, only one trout. Snowed Sunday night down to 7000 feet. Lundy road was icy, could not get to lodge. WIND was blowing at 8 AM. DROVE to upper Lee Vining creek, 1 fish. Drove to Grant lake, fished parts of Rush creek, got really windy. Called it a day. Going to walk in to Pleasant Valley res. from the north end this AM.

If your wondering about coming up I would say to u don't bother. Water flows r at a trickle. DWP is working from Lee Vining to Lone Pine. I fished Pleasant Valley, walked from one end to the other. Lots of weeds, very low flows coming in or out. Crowley lake showing a lot lake bed. We really need a couple of years of snow. Today I'm going to see how the lower Owens is fairing. The weather is great, low 70's. .......GT

Well I did good today on the Owens. CAUGHT a hefty river trout, think it's an Alpers, by the V cut in the tail. Don't know how to attach the pic from my Android to this page. I will post it when I get back.

Well I'm back, a little disappointed with the outcome. Usually I have no problems fishing the Sierras, but this time was different I had the best weather, Bishop 72-76 degrees, sunny some wind, but water levels were the lowest I've seen. Lots of algae growing in the creeks, water temp warm for this time of the year, 35 to 40 degrees. Intake 2 had been emptied and cleaned a week earlier, did not stock it as of Thursday of last week. About one third of the intake had ice, won't be long. 34 degrees water temp. in the afternoon.
Monday Lundy Lake, icy road in, windy. On to Lee Vining Creek, upper end one rainbow.

Tuesday, Pleasant Valley Res, walked in from the dam upto the siting of the powerplant. Dead fish, lots of vegetation[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
.

Wednesday, Owens River, below Line St., one nice river bow.

Thursday, fished intake 2, Power plant 2 pond and North fork, Bishop creek at Hwy 6 going south
Both fish released...........GT

I knew better this late in the season, but I had an etch that I had to scratch.........I really enjoyed being out of LA for 5 days, like driving the dirt roads with no need to speed......................GT

I spent a lot of time fishing out of Bishop back in the 70's but it's been many, many years since I've been back. I've never seen Pleasant Valley anything but full. I can imagine the drought has been devastating, but it is definitely a great place to cruise back roads and smell the sage. Thanks for the report!
