I've got several bass lures that are clear.. no color at all. They are the Heddon "Zara Spook" and a couple of the surface propeller baits, called "Tiny Torpedo". I've used both these bait that are finished with nice colors and have caught bass with them, but I've never used the clear ones. Anyone have any experience with clear lures?

I've used baits that were clear, except they had glitter. I think what is clear in the air to our eyes might not necessarily be clear in the water to fish eyes.

When you think about it, color, when it comes to fish baits is voodoo. Fish will obviously attack baits in colors they never encounter in the wild, so I think it all comes down to try it and see...

Fish are crazy, you never know what they'll eat. I once saw a deck hand on a party boat pull a piece of loose rubber off his sneaker, put it on a hook and catch a yellowtail with it!

The zara spook is a top water bait, correct? the "walk the dog" action on it alone would be enough to get a bite. And even though it's clear, I believe the light would refract differently than through water, so I think fish would still be able to zero in on it. Just my two cents...

I use a clear or translucent bait quite often , as other have stated the light reflects different on these baits and they can be painted or wrapped any color or design you wish .

A top water bait like a Zara Spook yes it has a great action , but take into account the belly color of a topwater as well , a lot of predators like LMB will key into that color , thus being the reason a lot of people focus on topwaters with a white, black or yellow belly

Like pink! Nothing in nature is pink, that’s is a natural diet for fish but for some reason you fish a pink spoon or jerkbait or what have you then you’re gonna get hit!
That’s just how it is lol

I am sure Komori is talking about something along these lines

But I like translucent baits like this myself  ,

Speaking of "walking the dog" with Zara Spooks, It is hard to do this retrieve while in a float tube. At least for me.

For some reason pink baits never work for me.
