Stoked.  Smile

Gonna bike over to the park with a 1/4 oz casting plug and a couple of ball caps, throw them out on the grass and remind myself what a sharp shooter I was a couple of years ago.

Been a bit.  Super excited to start baitcasting the bays again.

Gotta give it up to Shimano... they do make a fabulous reel.

* Spooling 4# onto my Spirex 2000 spinning for the 1/16th oz jigs.

* I'll have this with 6# for the 1/4th and possibly 1/2 oz jigs

* Next up is building out the meatstick.... likely a heavier braid / flouro rig.

Excited to be almost rigged.

I'd talk more, but I'm burning daylight.  salute

What a day.

So grateful.

Okay - a couple of hours in the park, casting to palm fronds, cap, even a trashcan..... I'm starting to get comfy with a baitcaster again. Its been a bit, but it came right back once I dialed in the brake to my stroke.

Super fun with light line (6#).... wish I could get out tomorrow. Maybe later this week.

Can't wait!

Nice setup! I have an old citica 200g6 that I still use weekly. I'd love to pair it with that same Phenix rod. Thanks for sharing

I'm going to get another baitcaster soon - and I'll surely pair it with another Phenix (all my rods are Phenix)... this Recon Elite really knocked me out.

I don't like long rods. Actually, I really dislike them. So this being 6-8 is still a long rod (if this came in a 6' I'd be so pleased) but I can make it work. It is the 4-10# line class.

I also dislike slow, noodle-y rods (except for lobbing live bait). I love fast rods, especially for jigs. And this is the ticket. I had it in the park for a couple of hours and it casts like a dream with 1/4 oz jig and 6# line.

My next baitcaster in the next few weeks will be this rod's big brother. They make a 6-8 in a 6-12# line class, that I'll spool up with Braid (likely 20 or 30#) and flouro (likely 10 or 15#) so I can throw larger, 1/2 oz jigs.

I can't recommend this rod enough. Love it.
