I met up with Ken a.k.a. Mo2vation just after 0500 hrs at the HH boat launch parking lot.
We were in the suds and fishing by 0530 hrs.
Ken definitely had the hot stix during this session ... "KEN THE HALIBUT SLAYER"!
We rode the tide out to Los Patos Bridge and then we rode it back to our Launch location. It was a good day.

Thank you Ken ... it was a pleasure to have shared the session with you Sir! Thumbs Up
Your FT set up is outstanding to say the least and the stabilizing front-bar of your FT frame has definitely
offered you a brand new option ... indeed. You couldn't have designed it any better!

Ken's Fish Count: (14+ fish, 5-species)
We will need to wait on Ken's report for his final fish count.
Ken landed a couple of really nice Hali's today.

Photos: Since Picasa had shut down their site, I can't seem to browse for my pictures on my Mac any more ... sorry. I don't know how to resolve this issue.
SP Dan.

I'll post video and stills in a bit.

Dan is being kind.   HE was the mastah today.  He had on two or three before we got out of the slips and it continued like that the first 2 hours.

I had nothing going on, and was beginning to wonder if I was gonna see the south end of a north-bound skunk.

I had some bites (I was striking too fast and missing) and one monster elbow-ripping strike that literally chomped 3/4 of my HUB in a tenth-of-a-second.   I wasn't getting any love for at least the first 90 minutes - then one (spotty in the pic....) You know how it is - we've all been there. Your buddy is giving a clinic, you're firing blanks and your confidence is starting to erode... then that first fish - and you're back in the hunt.

Dan could see I was struggling. He offered (I didn't ask....) me one of the HUB colors he was using and it. was. on. 4 fish in the first 5 casts.... and I started to redeem myself in the middle of the day. He kicked off and before long we were a quarter mile apart, as I was catching, and my first rule is: I don't leave fish to find fish.

I pried my self off the money bank, and kicked over to join Dan while we staged ourselves in the flat eddie by the bridge as we waited for the slack. It was about a 5 minute wait.

We kicked to the bridge, and I hit some more.  The inflow began to pick up so I took out my Kelp clip and tied into the mussles on the bridge stanchion. Now the incoming just kept me pulled away from the bridge, and I could easily fish the edge then the center channel.... very cool.

After a bit of this, I released and drifted back into the aforementioned flat eddie, regrouped with Dan and we started the kick (with the incoming... more of a saunter than a kick) back to the launch.

On the way back, it was the first Halibut (19"+) and then added a 16" flattie.  A couple of more bass and that was it.  For the day:

2 Halibut
1 Sculpin
1 Calico
3 San Bass
7 Spotties

Fabulous day.  But the real star of this show was Dan.  Dude was generous and kind, and he easily shaved 6 or more months of my learning curve for Huntington Harbor.  Locations, presentments, colors, tide and water movement through the place, etc, etc, etc.

When an experienced angler offers to take you to their home water, there is only reply:  what time?  (another acceptable response is what beer do you drink....)

Dan - I would love to do this again and again.  I cannot thank you enough - I learned so much today. Sincerely, thanks!

More soon folks.

- Ken

Chomped.... look at this thing!!! Cut off.  This was the story of my morning.
