Ok after years of tubing and having to learn all about the sport on my own I thought it might be helpful to other members if I complie a list of Fresh Water tube spots. If there is a place you know that is not on the list please add it.

Jennings does NOT allow float tubes
Personal watercraft, inflatable rafts, kayaks, sailboats, amphi-cars and waders are prohibited. Zodiac-type inflatable's with a discernable bow, wooden transom and wood deck are allowed.

Further North, but if Pyramid is on the list, then you can add these.

Antelope - Eagle lake strain of Trout - good fighters, nice lake to tube, especially mid week. buddy and I tubed this once last year and had a blast. even the little guys 12-14 fight like 16 to 18s or bigger.

Frenchman's - Chilcoot (NORCAL) - primarily a recreation lake, has skiers and jetskiers on it during the summer. But decent trout fishing if you stay in the coves and fish the drop offs(landed 15 or so and LDRd another 15 last Saturday). Mostly 14 to 18 inchers but did get one 22.

Lake Davis - Portola - fishing only - no skiers or jetskis, West side is a fly fishing haven, purpose built for fly fishing on this side. Rest of the lake is open for just about any type of fishing. Trout again is the primary fish here. Used to be a trophy trout fishery, but, they had to poison it to get rid of the pike some bucket biologist put in there (33 mil to clean it up not to mention almost devastated the town of Portola). Fish average size that I am catching is 16 to 20, there are bigger in there (buddy got a 25 incher last year) and the avg size of these trout seems to be getting bigger each year. There are some copepods on them still, primarily due to the massive stocking they had to do after the poisoning, but this is getting better and the fish size is coming back - longing for the days of 5lb footballs again. They have a couple major hatches each year (damsels and blood midges) and the float tube fishing when the hatches are going off is a blast - you can even get some dry fly fishing in occasionally during the hatches.

I'm going fishing at New Melones Lake in Aug can't wait hopefully its good
