This evening I took a close inspection of my ridiculously expensive inventory of HUB's that I've purchased at each of their 15%-20% off with free shipping $ales .... and TO MY SURPRISE ......

After a while on the shelf ... the HUB plastic body reacts to the plastic packaging, it melts into the packaging and the oil bleeds out of the baits or the lead head react to the lubricant that HUB uses to slip the plastic tubes onto the lead heads, turning the colored HUB jig plastic on the baits ... white. Evil or Very Mad

I threw away (14) fourteen packages, (12) twelve packages were still new and unopened.

Has anyone else out there had this happen to their inventory?
Evil or Very Mad PLEASE SHARE if you have experienced this!

I tore the melted-down body's off the Owner jig heads, saved the jig heads and threw the worthless plastic HUB body's away. $$$$$$$$$$ I'm guessing $150-$170 worth of plastic went into the trash tonight! Evil or Very Mad [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Note: The white on the jig heads are the ones that had a reaction and the colored plastic turned white as well as the packaging began to melt with the HUB plastic jig. Evil or Very Mad

DANG!!!

That sucks to see Dan! I think this is what happens to the plastic bait reaction with something on the lead heads in general. I don't fish these baits and don't plan on it but I have been given several in "Goodie bags" from tournaments and even all the baits I have did the same thing. They still fish the same and I threw mine away. I took a few out of the packaging and they still turned the same reaction. For the price of what they charge for "tube jigs", you should really contact them and tell them your displeasure and the amount of baits you tossed in the trash. I make my own "this type of bait". They are nothing new and I can not see the paying the amount for these baits. No offense to anglers that love them. Hope you can get the company to send you some tube replacements at least!

Ouch, I’ve seen it happen a few times on certain heads...mostly lower end ones. You should’ve kept them and reach out to them. They should make it right, at least I hope they would.

It's not the heads it's the plastic the baits are made from.

I have a few of these. The bottom one was used in saltwater and freshwater. I had thought that maybe the salt had something to do with it. I guess not.

The difference in production date maybe?

Twelve packages never opened and this happened to them while being stored on the shelf.

How long were they on the shelf?

The unaffected bait has been in my Plano box for a year or so. The moldy one is 18 months or better, but in the same Plano box.

I also have had this problem, I tend to believe its the plastic that's causing the reaction to the lead jig head. I use mostly 1/4 ounce, so if they tarnish I throw the tube away. On my large baits, 5/8 to 1.5 ounces I remove the jig from the tube, polish the jig head and reinsert it into the tube with clear fish oil or attractant. If you have a good day with one it usually falls apart after one or two sessions............GT

This is part of the reason why I tend to shy away from new plastic lure bait companies. They are not tried, tested and true yet. I also never leave jig lead heads attached to plastic because they tend to turn white and get all gross.

Anyhow sorry to hear about the money you wasted on those.

That sucks Dan. I have had a couple of mine do that, but they were the older ones I have had over a year. I have also seen this happen on plastics I have left attached to the head. AA's seem to get a pale white colot where the lead goes into the plastic. A couipe other big hammer and Mano swimbaits have all done this when left on the head.

I’m not trying to create a case here, I was just interested if anybody had the same experiences with the Hookup Baits as I had just experienced.
Thank you for your input for it is very much appreciated and valued.

I now have quite a few jig head (leads) and I will only purchase HUB replacement bodies in the future as needed.
I am also going to try to use up what I have on my shelf before they expire as well.

Thanx,
