Lake Perris 12/22/19

I went out to Perris today to try out a new Dobyn's Champion XP rod I picked up a couple weeks ago. It's a very nice, light, well balanced rod.

The fishing was slow is an understatement. I only got 2 bass today. A dink not pic worthy and 2 lbr. I know people like to say the dog days of summer but it should be the dog days of fishing during the winter. The bite really slows down and it gets tough to stick it out in these cold conditions.

I was fishing the east end and got the 1st fish dropshotting a 6" worm. It got my confidence up but after an hour without a bite I figured I would toss a black and blue jig on the Dobyn's rod due to the low light conditions. I felt the jig roll over a branch in a submerged bush when I felt the fish take off with the jig. I set the hook and brought this guy up.

On a side note the lake was nearly empty. You could only hear one idiot on the entire lake blasting his music. I don't understand why some people fail to see they're disturbing  other people's peace.

Way to grind them out in these slow conditions. I like the solitude of winter on the water, the cold and slow bite, not so much.

I have to agree with Steve about idiots playing their loud crap music while out fishing in the normally great, wonderful, peaceful outdoors.  It's so nice to be out at Perris when it's quiet.  You can hear all the different waterbirds, the occasional big carp jumping, and even hear the very high flying jets 5 miles up.

Sorry about the loud music on the water I get what you are saying.  Thanks for sharing your report and some info on the new rod and reel combo.

Nice report and way to grind it out for those two fish.
