I've gotten into servicing my own reels. My Daiwa 700C is like new, new bearing and it'll get new drag washers. Same for my 1300C and my sweetie's 2500C. Parts ordered. Anyone else doing this?

I do it as well, and my reels are overdue for a cleaning. I am in need of drag repairs so maybe I need to order new washers as well.

There are MANY how-to videos on Youtube, really showing detailed process. Hey I rebuilt my own airplane engine, I should be able to do this...

I do service all my baitcasters. Clean or new bearings, change out the drags or clean them. I do grease the drags or replace them on my spinning reels, but lubrication is shooting heavy oil into the lubes port.

I've upgraded all my baitcasting reels by putting in orange seal boca bearings, carbontex drags, adding custom parts like star drags etc... Al my reels are custom to my liking. I also "Super tune" them by polishing all the contact parts and gears. It's fun and rewarding once you complete a reel. Nothing like getting that reel back out on the water to test what you've done to it. You also start learning which parts to oil and which parts need grease.

It's not cheap though. I usually fork out about $100 - $150 in upgrades to my reels but like
I said it's my very own custom reel that's been super tuned.
