First post to the forum.  I’m all in!  Over the last week I’ve invested in float tube fishing gear.  Almost all of it should arrive this week.

Jeff assisted me in deciding to get the Maxxon XPW-240. Thank you my friend!

Peripheral gear includes:

* Simms Tributary Stockingfoot Waders
* Simms Superlight Pants (for wearing under the waders)
* Simms Tributary Wading Boots
* Float Tube Force Fins
* K4 K-Pump
* NRS Chinook Fishing PFD (Red)
* 2 - Custom X Fin Tethers
* 6 - Cinch-Lock Pro Rod Leash
* ForEverlast Floating Net
* Sherpa Standard Model Game Cart (for packing/toting boat and gear down to the lakes edge)

Eventually I’ll have to figure out how I’m going to pack my tackle and rods.  Initially, I think I’ll just use the bags supplied with the boat.  And I’ll probably strart out using only two rods.  I was thinking about the Flambeau Tuff Krate with rod holders.  Anyone have any experience with it?

Welcome to the forum TryhardFisherman.

You are all in now. I have no experience with Flambuea Tuff Krate, but I do use a milk crate on my kayak and it carries a lot of gear. If it fits back there it should be great.
I hope you enjoy the forum and I can't wait to see some fishing reports from you.

Thanks for the welcome Jerdon.  I see Flambuea also makes a 13x13 soft crate system that looks good.  I also just now stumbled on this one Wilderness Systems Kayak Crate

I think the crate idea is a good idea for this voat. The rod hold I made is just that a rod holder the crate can hold so much more. Thanks for sharing and we look forward to hearing more.

I went with the Wilderness Systems Crate.  Amazon had them for $149.  I especially like the multi capable rod holder configurations you can do with it.

These crates are awesome.  Solidly built with exceptional storage capacity.  I highly recommend theses crates.

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I appreciate it very much.

I wanted to take the Maxxon out this past weekend but was feeling lousy.  So I inflated it tonight in my living room.  Wanted to set the seat up, see how the box sat on it and also mount the wheels.  The boat it awesome and the transport wheels I bought are going to work great. Next time I post pics, I plan on it being in the lake.

Finally got the Maxxon out today!  Not only was I able to get it out, I caught a nice 2 pound LM.  It took me about twenty minutes to get it inflated, get everything on the boat and get into the lake.  Lopez Lake is only at 52%.  The main boat launch ramp is approximately 150 ft down (maybe more).  The wheels bungied to the boat worked great getting me down to the water.  Once in the water, I pulled the wheels off, folded them up and bungied them to top of the boat, out of the way.  The top surface of the Maxxon is spacious - room for lots of gear.  It can carry up to 400lbs!

The water was glassy and this boat glided across the surface - smooth and QUIET!  I fished the boat docks near the marina just to get the feel of the boat.  The oars work great maneuvering the boat.  They are sturdy oars and the attachment point to the boat is very sturdy.  The kick fins I chose work great too.  I was really worried I would labor at rowing/kicking - not even a little bit.  Even when there were small gusts of wind later in the morning, I didn’t have any problems with it.  The boat moves through the water smartly.

Best of all, I nailed a 2lbs LM on a swimbait.  It was a blast!  I plan on returning tomorrow and maybe Sunday 😀. This boat is awesome!

This boat is awesome!  I took it out again this morning and accidentally forgot to remove the wheels I had bunggied to the bottom of the boat.  As it turns out it worked just fine.  The boat felt exactly as it did yesterday - easy to maneuver/quiet.  When I was ready to get out of the water, the launch ramp was busy because it’s Saturday.  I didn’t have to mess with re-strapping the wheels on the bottom of the Maxxon.  I just removed my kick fins, grabbed my road attached to the boat and started walking - easy.

For this outing, I didn’t get any Bass.  But I did catch this 1lbs 12oz Black Crappie - WOW!  I was using a 4”+ swimbait on a underspend - this fish choked it!

That wheel setup looks like just what I need! I have the XP240 as well, its great on the water but is much more of a challenge to carry around. I've been putting in on my shoulders with my head where your feet hang down, but I need to get on that wheel gig.

Nice fish, and welcome to the forum

You’ve had a lot going on with your new ride and set up.
Congrat’s on your PB! Thumbs Up
It sounds like you’re forgetting about your mounted wheels turned out to be a blessing for you when you got out at the boat ramp. Nice wheel set up Sir!

Thanx for your fish report with pic.
