[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I have attached some pictures of the frame.
This is my third version of the rod rack
I used all ½" PVC pipe and fittings.
All fittings were the white schedule 40 ½" pvc fittings.
The grey pipe is ½" schedule 40 pvc electrical conduit.
I used electrical conduit because it matches my float tube and didn't have to paint it.
To make the bends on the pipe I just used a heat gun to heat the pipe put in a fitting and gave it a bend to 45 or 22 degree bends for the front of the rod holder.
I had originally used ½" pvc 45 fittings but the problem I had was it wouldn't sit completely flush to V part of my tube because of the thickness of the ½" pvc 45 and my Savage Gear bows up at the V.
Originally the rack was flat and didn't have the bend up so that also was an issue I didn't like. I just wanted it to sit flush to the V of the tube.
I couldn't find any street 45's locally so bending the pipe was my only option with out having to wait for a delivery and wanting to go out and fish.
Also by making the bends my self was better than using street 45 fittings
By street 45 I mean on side of the fitting is female and the other is male.
Hope this is making sense to every one. If not let me know and I can elaborate more.
For the actual rod holder I used 1½" schedule 40 electrical conduit. I heat it up and flared it with a beer bottle (Modelo). Then I just cut notches on it for my bait casters.
Hope this helps anyone interested in making something like this.
Almost forgot to add why I added the vertical ½" pipe that will be used versatile for a go pro and light for night fishing.
If I make a version 4 of this rod rack I would relocate it. To be honest the rod holders on the side were an after thought I was going to put them on the inside of the rack
