I'm looking for a float tube that I can take on a trip to Montana/Idaho this fall. Does anyone have advice for flying with a float tube, or any models that are travel well? We have taken our inflatable paddle boards with us on several trips and am hoping that I can do the same with a float tube.

Dude that sounds like a cool trip. I would say wilderness lite and the FLTB-5.
I will post pictures a little later and links as well.

Wow - the Wilderness Lite looks light!

It's a pretty amazing trip, started by my grandpa and his buddies about 50 years ago, and we're still going strong. We do a lot of lake/reservoir shore fishing, and we're late enough in the season that most of the boat rental places have shut down. But I'm thinking a float tube might give me access to a lot more fish!

The wilderness lite is meant to backpacked I had one to give away years ago they are pretty cool. Just a very light basic float tube.

I also said the FLTB-5 as it is quality and packs into a nice simple carry on.

I second the FLTB-5. My daughter has one. . It packs away in a nice travel case. And when hiking to the spot once you’re there the front backpack straps on the tube itself are huge plus.

I would suggest a float tube with air-filled seat and backrest and integrated pockets on the pontoons -> packs in small size which I think is always a bonus when travelling anywhere with float tube if you need to travel with the tube deflated. With a double action hand pump you can suck all the air out from the bladders which makes the tube really squeeze into small size.
