Purcahsed a used Bixby jet trolling motor for a steal of a price and mounted to the transom mount on the Maxxon.  Setup was super easy.  Used the transom mount directly from bixby with the tiller attachment to steer.  The tiller itself is actually just a broom handle.  Battery is Velcro’d to the flat area behind the seat.  It’s waterproof so it’s a good spot back there.  Hope to get some good hours on it at Perris next weekend at the toy drive.  [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Also finish building a set of wheels to make it easier to get to and from the truck.  This tube is awesome on the water but a beast on land and awkward and heavy to carry.  Especially now with the motor added.

I’ll do a full review after Perris and let you guys know how it motored around.

If anyone is interested FloatTubeIQ here on the forum has a couple of these motors for sale.

A jet powered MAXXON!
I’m liking it! 👍🏼
I’ve been thinking about the JetSki with rod holders. 🧐 Hmmm lol
Best of luck to you this weekend at Perris! 👍🏼

Faaaantastic! So glad that you set this tube up with the motor. I had tested the Bixpy on it before and works beautifully. I think that you can do fishing trolling speed for about 8 hours on it. With all float tubes, going all out full throttle does not gain huge amount of speed but trolling speed, they can go for a long time. (And thanks for noting that I have a new Bixpy set. I pass it on to anyone here at dealer's cost if anyone contact me directly.) I used mine last season for fishing numerous times and am impressed by how light the rig is and how well it worked on a tube. Motor is under 2.5 lbs and battery is under 7.5 lbs! Crazy to have a whole motor & battery under 10 lbs!

Looking forward to your review at Lake Perris!.

Took the Maxxon out to Lake Perris for the toy drive today and tested the Bixby motor setup. Worked perfectly. Tested it at different speeds including full blast and it moves around pretty good. Even towed Daeley around in her FLTb-5 and still had plenty of power. Only used one bar out of 6 on the battery for a few hour session today just testing. I can’t wait to take it to Alamitos or Huntington harbors and go out against an incoming tide a lot farther than I used to and drift back in. I know the “purists” will say it’s not a “float tube” any more but to get to cover more water I think it’s cool. Just call it an inflatable fishing vessel , wink wink.
On that note , during the monthly jackpots or any other “competition” type events I’ll either take the motor off or use the Cumberland so no questions can be raised.

Next step is to decide whether or not I want to get it registered and get CF numbers for it. Legally I know I’m supposed to but don’t know how far I’m willing to risk it.

From what I could see you have a nice setup bro.

It is a nice set up. I tested my own Bixpy on the Maxxon too and it worked well. That low profile helps it not to be pushed around by the wind.

It's was great to see it all in working order. I agree the flat boats are great for battling wind and current.
