Teachers Needed for fishing clinic

That is right we need teachers for 2 potential fishing related events.  We will be involved in a Camping outdoor event in the city of La Habra.  This will be in conjunction with the La Habra Children's Museum and the La Habra Art Walk.
The Camping event we will be teaching in the park the basic skills of knot tying, jig setups and casting as well.  So we will need a few able bodies willing to donate sometime to teach kids and there parents the finer skills they will need.

2nd event will be a fishing derby which we will be hosting.  They goal once again is to teach the finer skills of fishing, but also help and trouble shot as kids attempt to catch in most cases there first fish.  This one will require quite a few hands on deck.  I will be following up with more info soon.

Here is a compilation of what we did in the past and hope to grew more.

OK we are moving forward with this fishing clinic, so we will still need a few volunteers to help out. I do have an organization called Tilt that wants to help and I might be reaching out to the Fishing Syndicate as well as there store is here in La Habra. I am sure they will step up to the plate as well.

Send me the dates and I’ll see what I can do.  It sounds like a great experience for the kids and the teachers as well.

We are looking to do this in possible July and August. Once we have dates I will let everyone know. It will be a weekend thing for sure.

I wish I was gonna be around to help out, but I am in the middle of moving to Arizona, which makes it a bit impossible to help out when needed.

Yes I would.
Teaching kids how to fish is a fantastic & rewarding experience.
Being with them when they catch their first fish, the excitement bleeds over and reminds you of your first time.

Carolina rig. Improved clinch. A few different types of bait & lures. How to cast. Turn 'em loose.
Keep it simple. Don't overwhelm with too much.

I've taught my niece & nephews, later grandkids. Awesome time I'll never forget.

Few years ago I was bank fishing with my wife. A small church group of men showed up & set up next to us. There was a young boy with them and he was super excited on his first fishing trip. It was a little comical how excited he got catching his first fish.
Then I noticed his fishing pole had a broken tip. That's all he had.
I wanted to help him remember that day & hopefully create a fisherman for life. So I gave him one of my fishing poles. His face was all the reward & thanks I needed.

Teaching can be very rewarding in itself.

Ok looks like the date will be July 23rd a Sunday. Roughly 11am till 5pm at the La Habra Children's Museum. We will be teaching kids and parents, the very basics. Tie notes, setup up basic rigs for park fishing. Maybe discussion a little bit about different baits to use for Catfish and Bluegill as well. We should have a casting location, (push button poles with small weights and a few hula-hoops to try and hit.

Supplies we will need:
1. Line
2. small weights
3. Rods and Reels
4. Hula-Hoops
5. Dropshots rig, Crankbait setup, Bobber and hook setup, and weight and hook setup.

Is there anything I might have missed guys what are your thoughts?

?Question? What do you all think would be the easiest knot to teach to kids and parents that don't fish. This is the challenge to teach them so they can repeat it later when they are fishing on there own.

Ok so this is in the works now. We have Boy Scouts Pack 871 who will be there to support us and help us out. They will be doing more of the tent setup and we will be handling the Fishing Clinic on our end.

OK just putting it out there again end of this month we will be helping out at the Outdoor Jubilee in La Habra. We will be doing teaching knot tying and casting at the event. Plus we will be discussing tent setups as well. Let us know if you can help out thanks.

Ok we have the Boy Scouts coming to this event. They will be working with us and show families tent and camp site setup.
We are still looking for a few people that would be willing to spend sometime teaching families the basics of fishing. If you can come by even for a few hours that would be great.
