Met up with [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and his brother this morning at Mothers Beach. BMF graciously lent me his Decathlon tube (and his daughters fins) so I could hit the water with them.
We launched around 6:45am and rode the outgoing tide south. I managed to catch a short Halibut about five minutes in on the drop shot with a 4” white fluke. I was stoked because every time I try to target them, I never catch one. All of my Hali have been caught on HUBs. BMF was on maybe a minute after me with a small Sandy. Then his brother was in the board a few minutes after BMF with a Sandy as well.
We drifted all the way down to the diagonal wall and then crossed back over. I ended up with a few Lizard Fish and BMF’s brother had another Sandy or two and a Spotty. I forget if BMF got any more, lots of those small rapid-fire bites going on out there. It was a grind but always fun to be out there with those two fellas.
Thanks again BMF for your generosity in loaning me the tube and fins. It was great to try out the Decathlon. The wind slowly picked up before we exited the water right before 10. Lots of usual outrigger/dragon boat traffic too.
