Been fly fishing from short with waders for awhile, but have a small amount of cash that I can spend on a "boat". Looking at float tubes/toons. My favorite locations are lakes. Been fishing a lot at the South Park lakes, which have serious wind most of the time that I fish. Usually wind comes up around 10 AM and blows from 10 to 20 mph until the "golden hour". So stability and the ability to get back to shore (i.e. safety) are forefront in my mind. (Yes, I plan to have a PFD.) I assume I will want/need an anchor so that I don't spend all my energy/concentration fighting wind to "stay in 1 place".
I just started using two rods so that I can minimize switching from dry flies to nymphs relatively quickly. So I want to be able to carry/work with two rods. Amount of gear I bring likely isn't a huge consideration. I generally have 3 fly boxes, my net, some food and water in a back pack. Sometime I bring a small cooler that doubles as a chair because 6 hours of wading gets to my back.
I assume that once I get the knack for fishing from a tube, other "extras" will make it to the wish list like a fish finder or some nifty tech device. I was surprised to see a YouTube of a guy that had a small motor on his Classic Accessories Cumberland. That was intriguing to say the least.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts and experiences.
