Work with water quality control groups to keep the public lakes and water ways clean for us boys to play in..doing the best that I can that is. If you need knowledge of the water you're playing in, let me know. I'll give you more than enough info to hurt your brain.

Oh, might as well add in a few things since everyone is airing their skills. I simply put my current working skills:

Anything I.T., since I work with I.T. for the university that I attend at for 7 years as server manager and systems oversight, including system builds. Anything audio-video, since I work with multi-media for the past 15 years, both as editing crew and investigation crew, compiling audio-video for cases. Training martial arts, since I started my gung fu when I was 2, started teaching when I was 12, and now, I'm 36. Long history. Please, no more combat training No Too tired of seeing blood spill. Survival training. When you guys are ready, just bring a set of clothing on your back, a good hunter's knife, and we'll live off nature for a wee while. A few ex-marine wouldn't mind tagging along.

Hmmm very interesting. Are you associated with a private consulting group or public agency? What do you know regarding the Salton Sea water quality and plans for the Sea? Do you have access to maps and charts? Flow schedules for the aqueduct? Do you work primarily inland water, or salt or both? do you work with the DFG? MWD? DWP? California Resources Board? Oh Boy do I wanna to talk story wit you Bra!

I'm public agency, working with municipalities, private enterprises, and of course water districts to monitor water quality closely. I work closely with DFG, MWDs, DWPs, RWQCBs, for both fresh and salt water bodies. Give me your ears, and I'll make sure to make your mind heavy with info.

Salton Sea..what don't I know about it. I have old 2005 maps and data charts for the lake's bottom, but nothing special that anglers can chew on. I fish that lake now and then, but cautiously eat the fishes there. I do eat them, but not as much as I would like not because DFG, EPA, or the local outcries about them. Rather, it's based on fish tissue samples that had been harvested and tested for the past 2 decades. The aqueduct feed to the lake is not constant, nor do the rivers near the southeast areas. It's mainly based on the demanded flows from the aqueduct to the farmlands, then the run-offs from irrigation feeds back to the aqueduct final segment from the local farmlands. It has been drastically reduced due to the restriction of the Colorado River rights that the neighboring states are claiming, including Mexico. The aquifers are being heavily tapped to make up for the lack of water coming from the Colorado. Some of the water from the California aqueduct had been diverted to the Coachella aqueduct via the San Jacinto pump line to compensate but not much, since MWD wants the water to be diverted at minimal of 75% to the Diamond Valley. MWD controls the water, so, they make the rule.

What do you know about the Matillija dam removal proposal? and what is the long term plan for the lower Ventura River?

Everyone always needs to know the facts behind the craziness, when it comes to millions being poured into a project. The dam removal process is not something new. Similar dams throughout the entire U.S. are getting removed due to beneficial reasons, both for human and environmental after the structures lifespan had been spent. That's why new dams have bleed controls to ensure proper maintenance without having to go through this nightmare of the issues where the sediment build up behind the dam becomes impossible to properly remove without spending an exorbitant amount of cash every half century to prevent impending catastrophe that will wipe out everything along the downstream path. Imagine a giant flood of moving sand and water wiping out towns, cities, and environmental habitats from the dam to the point where water energy final dissipates..where the heck ever that may be, during a 100-years storm event, which is coming soon. Not sure when..but soon. Here's a quick layout of what will happen without going into a novel about it:

1. Sediment carry risk: what happen during the dam removal process that will impact downstream habitats when more water being pushed downstream after the dam is lifted.

2. Short term impact: From the time the dam is being drained to the time when the dam is being removed, along with the sediment load from the unearthing, will downstream habitats get decimated or thrive. High sediment yield can be controlled, but not during wet seasons when erosion of sediment can cause havoc for the deconstruction site. However, proper engineered approaches can remedy that. We have the technology now.

3. Long term impact: what happen to the ecosystems downstream after they have been adjusting to the lack of water flowing through the tributary for so long? In reality, if nature takes half a decade to adjust with lack of water, nature will readjust even faster when there's water.

4. Long term benefit: can you see me fishing large monsters out of the tributary?! Hell ya! It's extremely costly in the short run, but remember, what's costly now will be much more beneficial in the long run. The costs of human life outweigh the $270 millions in no time. The secondary damage to the environment offset the cost of the $270 millions easily if there is to be a catastrophic failures. With the increase of the volume flow to the lower Ventura River, you can imagine the new biota potential for new habitats, both aquatic (mainly fishing) and surface (everything else). On top of that, we also have the additional potential for infiltrating the water from surface to ground for drinking water supply, charging fresh water sources for the needed supply. Once again, benefit outweigh the total cost in the long run..not so much in the short run. The long run is 10 years. Short run, or we call it short sight eval, is 2 to 5 years.

Can't believe I missed that post. Konacrush is right. *Stand and salute* Thank you for your dedication and services overseas in securing our freedom and Godblessed nation. My younger brother is currently in service with the USS Thach. My father was part of the Vietnam's southern medics for the US troops. I was with the US troop as civil medic and water quality team aiding the boys in Iraq back in late 90s during my medical field studies. Always am glad to meet and salute our men and woman in the armed forces.

I used to repair/recondition coin-op equipment(ex:arcade machines, pinball, solts, veding machines, jukeboxes, etc...) for years, but now I assemble and repair corrosion monitoring equipment.

Ohh wow can I pick your brain on a arcade game related question??

I have a full sized MK3 ultimate and the joysticks "click" when I move from left to right. I tried lubing under the dust cover, but no help. Any idea on how to fix that?

No!!! Never place any lubricant on a joystick!!! It will just "gum it up". Mad

Hmm... Clicking sound... Well a joystick has four switches(for each direction) which are activated by a square block as the joysticks moves. The switches located on the other end of the joystick.

Do you know how to open the front control panel? If so, you can check the switches and the block for any wear.

Since it's a MK3, I suggest replacing the joystick or better yet, both. Especially if the joysticks are the original ones.

Joysticks cost about $10-15 each.

Hit me up if you need more help/info. I still have some arcade parts in my garage I'll see if I have any joystick parts left.

Well I know it's not the switches it's almost like it's getting "stuck" and when you push it the joystick from one side to the other it releases and makes a thud sound. I think I'll go ahead and replace both of them since it probably is the original sticks. Is that something anyone could do?

I opened the front, but couldn't figure out how to pull the control panel back for the life of me. I had a few games in the past and there was a latch to release the panel and it just pulled back.

oh okay, it's getting stuck. Common joystick problem. What's happening is the block on the bottom of the joystick is getting hung up on the switches. So most likely the block, switches or both are worn. Best thing to is replace the joystick.

As for the panel, some control panels have latches and some side out. You got a pic of the machine?
