I had an insane day today with my friend.

Fish count: ME: 5 spotties, 4 sandies, 4 calicos, 1 lizard

Buddy: 1 spottie, sandie, lizard, and a mystery fish.

Cruising through the LBC at 5 in the morning feels kind of weird.

Had my first mini bay bass grand slam after only an hour and a half on the water.

Check out the purple on this sandie's chin.  I've never seen that type of coloration.

The beast!  My PB in fact.  It taped out at around 16.5" I couldn't get it straight  so it could be longer, but it was a fat girl. I landed her on 6lb mono and a small size 4 ewg hook. She was pulling drag like mad. I think the fight was close to over a minute lol or at least it felt like it.

What fish is this?  I have no clue.  Is it a snakehead?   Razz

The teeth on this thing is crazy.

Those spotties messed my thumb up really well.

Oh and I bet you guys have never seen dolphins while tubing.

That was a great day IF2L! You really schooled me. I think you caught everything but a halibut. Jeff, lol! Yeah, we do know it's a Midshipman. It's just a standing joke with us that every time there's a post about a fish ID, it's a Midshipman.

Nice scratch man. Wish you bigger fish though. At least the fish are making babies. I wanna catch some toads real bad. Need to make that SD trip soon.

lol there aren't anymore that want to bite. Actually, the bite was solid. We decided to kick towards the inner sections of the harbor as the tide shift was kicking our ass.

Yep! Fun, fun, fun. You definitely caught more species that I did, but I had the numbers. Next time, you've gotta fish slower for them big girls.

I actually own one, but they've messed up the mouths of some beautiful spotties on more than one occasion. I'm okay with some thumb rash if the fish isn't too beat up.

Cool!

lol me too, but I kid you not the minis pulled really hard too. They must of been eating well because my past trips to the LAB never produced fish that fought and strike so aggressively.

Yep, head out to the land of giants.

Thanks. The last time I saw a dolphin while tubing was when it jumped 5 feet in front of me. I nearly crapped my waders. ha ha
