MDR is a very fishy place. I have not fish inside of the bay yet but I have launch the boat from there. This bay is on my to do list for this year

Good to know that float tubing is allowed at MDR
I would consider it my home port since this is where I launch my boat out of most of the time.

There's a fair amount of halibut in that harbor, especially if you use live bait
Water might be too cold right now for a good bite but when it warms up, you want to fish the incoming high tide.
Many times, there are small barracuda around with a few legals mixed in
If you're after bass, fish the walls and you need water movement (current) for them to bite good
There is also WSB, perch and a stray corbina in there too
Also various sharks and Bat Rays... Hang on!
