We had a meet there about 6-8 months ago and fishing wasn't bad everyone was on and it was definitly worth tubing. The people there are not used to tubers so be prepared to get alot of strange looks and questions and it had a really healthy seal population if that concerns you.

I wouldn't mind hitting that harbor again in the future or have another meet up there.

Good luck!

I'de go back for that again...and the WSB and the spotties and the sculpin and the rock fish and didn't someone land a nice hali?

Cool, Ill keep u guys posted.
I guess best place to launch wod be the Rocks off Via Marina being that u can park right off the jetty. Just not sure what the time limits are on the meters. If the water is glass, Id even launch out on the beach side and work around into the jetty.

Lockdog, I think you want to keep it all to yourself. Haha ;-)

Actually we went off the boat ramp. It was easy and put us where we wanted to be. Fish the Sherriff docks on the left of the channel and get in tight against the pilings. Spotties and rock fish in there. Cops were cool with us so I would say no worries. That's your freebie. You get to find the rest lol. Have fun!

Yeah I remember that, that was pretty awesome and surprised the heck out of me. I don't remember the Halibut but I do remember Leigh was the Mackerel slayer, Dano throwing a Sculpin at someone, I sold Ed some Excedrin, the big seal fight on the kick in and the build a burger place afterwards... then you all ditched me and went to West Marine lol.

Oh yeah Hollywood try parking and launching at the public boat launch off Fiji Way I think it was, it's a few bucks but you can stay as long as you want and I think the lot is a bit safer than on the street.

Thanks Vagabond for the tip.

Sea Lions, has anyone ever had a Problem with a Sea Lion while out there?
I had a big Mother pop up right in front of me the other day to take a look. Didn't think to much of it but it was pretty close.

MDR is a very fishy place but hard to fish. I have never fished from a tube there but I have for few mins from a boat.

If wasn't for such a far drive I would give it try from a tube

MDR is fishy and float tube friendly. Good halibut action in the channel and outside the jetty wall the calico action is quit good. I've only done it fromt he kayak, but float tubing the channels seems like an easy thing. I'm down!

So I made it out on Monday Morn. Had to fight traffic out there so I didn't get to Launch till about 8AM. It was a Rock jetty Launch, not bad, about 50 yards from the Parking Lot. Theres a Parking lot at the end of Via marina which takes automated payment. $.25 for 15 min.

I wanted to work the outer Break water and knew I had to fight incoming tide to get out there. Took a good 1 hour to make it out there.

Big Paula Lee, the Dredger, was out there working away. Probably, disturbing the piece under water. The water was fairly clear though.

Caught one Spotty and one small Hali on the way out. That was it the whole morning aside from a couple Lizards.

By the time I made it to the outer break water. Got one cast line out and then 2 Sheriff boats swooped in on me! WTF did I Do?! They were cool, just said they were going to be doing some boat work on the break water so to be cautious. I told then No worries I'll just work my way back in along the Jetty. Then he asked how the Bite was. MDR Sheriff were Float Tube friendly.

A few Lizards on the way back in and that was it for the morning. I'll try and post a short clip of the Spotty I landed.

Im not sure why its not letting me post pics or video Link?

Cool atleast it wasn't a skunk. I think when we went we did the best near the Sheriff's station and Tom got that big Sandie right in the middle of the channel about 200 feet past the station.

Yah, it was bigger then I expected it. It gave me a few spots of Bendo but not much for its size. Probably one of the bigger spotties I have caught in the bays. I released it right after.
