As I drove off Camp Lejeune (faster than 25mph) I let all the MP's at the gate know they were #1 and yelled out F you all (sorry at the time some of us just wanted out, you'd have to be in to understand), they chased me off base. I eventually pulled over and they came out just like cops nowadays with their hand's on their guns ordering me to get out of my vehicle, I said no! don't have to do what you say we're not on base, each following command was louder and louder until I rolled down the window and said look F both of you guys you have no authority out here! show me your ID card!!! DON'T HAVE ONE, DO IT NOW! F YOU! wait here I got something better to show you. I turned opened my briefcase and pulled out my honorable discharge cert, he says doesn't matter we still have 24 hours to bust your a ss! hold on let me show you this, at which point I pulled out my DD214 and showed him where it stated medical discharge under honorable conditions inactive service is null and void! He got pissed off told his partner lets go, "hey have fun in civilian world".
He did me a big favor though, he made it a point of calling the local poo poo who in turned trailed me for 5 miles out of town. Eventually I pulled over and got out of the car and waited for him to catch up, we had words and I got in my car and continued my trip back here to California. Nov 6 1992 was my EAS.
