They are good rods. They have been around along time. 5ft is on the short side unless it's tuna stick

Well except for these Shimano rods I am currently using I have always preferred the shorter sticks for tubing. It's a nice rod. I just see the them at B5 all the time and some of them are inexpensive and some are not.

Sabre is a great rod and yes the have been around for years. I am sure they have there high end and low end and B5 carries I think the lower end. I might be wrong but that what I am thinking.

Cool. By the way my short stroker is not a tuna rod its a small bass rod but it says stroker on it just like the tuna rods do. Anyway, I like it and thanks for the opinions.

Never knew they made lighter gear. My buddy got a really good deal on one at B5. Ive always viewed them as "one step lower than Seeker rods". Im sure there are other models in betwren but for some reason seeker and saber are two companies that stick out...

I didnt know they made lighter rods either. All the ones I have seen have been boat rods.

I might be mistaken but I believe they were bought out by Penn, when that happened they sort of disappeared.

It's a 5 foot MH Basstroker all one word. It's been around for awhile but I can't say how long. Great rod though. I will get the finer details and post a picture for you guys. I too have never seen a small rod like this from Sabre.

Now ya'll got me excited...lol.

Can't find much about this rod. It might be a custom job. I do know the OLD sabre rods before PENN took over are worth big $$$ to collectors.

A few years back I got a few from a guy for cheap and turnned around an sold them for $100 each. Just have to do your research and find out what you got.

I will ask around for you...give me as much deatils on the rod. Thumbs Up

Well the good news is what you have there is built on an old sabre blank before PENN destroyed the company!

I am sure if you found the right market you can get a nice chunk of change for it. Like I said before there are alot of old timers out there that collect these. Or if you are into collecting as well as fishing it is a nice peice to add to a collection! Thumbs Up

It's a freaking awesome rod dude. I have my winch on it and use it for cranks in the bay. It casts pretty far for such a short rod and I love the action on it. I honestly am not sure exactly how I acquired it but I am glad I did. Thanks for your input on this one bro. I will have it out there the next time we fish together...which I hope is soon!

I would love to see the rod in action, but if I were you I might consider retiring it from action. Older rods and the materials they were made from back in the days are not like the materials rod manufacturers use now.

I knew you were going to say that! Fiberglass? Or? Does it age and get brittle or something? Man that's like having an epsisode 4 Boba Fet NIB ca 1980 Special addition before the movie even came out (Empire Strikes Back) that you had to send in 4 labels from other figures to get and it took 9 weeks to get to you and then you put it on a shelf cuz one day it might be worth something. Aww man!

Yeah I hear you...It has to do with the fiberglass. The more you use it the more the glass fibers break down. Over time the action of the rod will change from use.

I am not saying not to use it...but I would not use it as an everyday rod unless you don't care about the $$$ side of it.

Lol...no man you give good advice! Ya...well get me some money for it somebody! Help a brotha out !! Lol...I still think some of you guys who know this stuff should have a look at it for me and chime in. I will bring to next gathering.

Thanks guys!

Hey Waxon,
Man, I seriously haven't seen a Sabre Bass Stroker since the seventies! I used to have a few of them. They ( the BassStrokers) were among the first rods I wrapped. They were popular for awhile in SoCal but never really caught on. Yours definitely looks like one of the original"honey" colored blanks, and that script label is great! I would keep it! and fish the heck out of it! Its a piece of history, but its still a fishin Po'

Yep I think I will. More harm will come to it in my garage or closet by NOT fishing it than if I just fish it. lol!
